Wisdom of a 3 year old

My son will be 3 this month and has already taught me a valuable lesson. You see, I was one of those disheartened Americans who did not like the outcome of the election. So I was grouching about it yesterday.
This morning Carolyn, my lovely wife, was telling Aidan that they where going to the park with their friends but if it rains they can. His response floored me, "Whatever happens happens."

This may not be a huge thing to many people, but to be honest the simple wisdom really humbled my heart. Aidan successfully understood something that a majority of the world never will. Whatever happens will happen.

I realized as I thought about how brilliant he is to me that I need to apply that very same truth to my life. If I can't do anything about it, just let it go. I didn't vote for Obama. And I'm extremely disappointed in people for all the things they DID vote for. It felt like they didn't even know what they where voting for. However, when all is said and done, there is nothing I can do about the outcome. I can only vote for who I planned on, vote for what I believe is the moral choices for the issues and move on. Once it's out of my hands it goes to God.

Yes, I'll say it: God obviously wanted Barack Obama as the president of our United States.

So, I'll pray for President Obama and hope that the country is better for his term.

Because whatever happens ... happens.

Ephesians 1:9-10“And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”
